Products

Your product catalog — the foundation everything else in Omnymous is built on. Every research report, customer avatar, angle, offer and creative traces back to one of these products.

New here? Start with How the Library works for the folders, search and editing rules this page shares with the rest of the Library.

What’s on the page

Open Products and you’ll see your catalog as a grid of cards — each with its image, price and cost.

The Products page showing eight supplement cards, each with a green Shopify badge, a price and a COGS figure

Products come from one of two places: synced from Shopify, or added by hand. Synced products carry a green Shopify badge; manual ones don’t. The rest of this page walks through both.

Import products from Shopify

Most catalogs start here. Click Import (the Shopify logo, top right of the toolbar) to open the Import from Shopify panel.

  • Use Search products… to find what you’re after.
  • Tick the products you want. Anything already in your Library shows an Imported flag and can’t be picked again.
  • Press Import — the button counts your picks, e.g. Import (3) — and they land in the grid.

The Import panel lists products from the Shopify store connected to this workspace. If it’s empty or the button is missing, connect the store first — see Connect a store.

Synced vs. manual products

The green Shopify badge tells you which is which, and it changes what you can do.

Synced products are read-only mirrors of Shopify. Their title, price, images and variants come straight from your store, so there’s no local Edit — you’ll only see View Details and Delete on the card, and the details panel sends you to Shopify for changes. This keeps Omnymous and your store in step.

Manual products — anything not synced from Shopify — are fully editable. Open one and press Edit, and you can set its Product Title, Price, COGS, Description and Images yourself. As you type a price and cost, a live margin readout updates beside them (Margin: $24.00 (70.0%)), so you can see profitability before you save. Everything else on the page — folders, search, composition, deleting — works the same for both kinds.

The product panel

Click any product to open its details on the right.

The Daily Greens Superblend product panel on its Overview tab, showing the product image and a Pricing block with Price, Cost of Goods (COGS) and a Profit Margin of $24.00 at 70%, with Overview, Variants and Details tabs above

At the top is the product’s name, its variant and stock count, and — for imported products — the Shopify badge. A tab strip splits the rest:

  • Overview — the product image, Pricing (Price, Cost of Goods (COGS) and a green Profit Margin figure), the Description, and its Tags and Collections as they come from your store.
  • Variants — every size or flavor, with per-variant price, COGS and margin. Shown when the product has variants.
  • Composition — what’s been built from this product so far, grouped into Knowledge, Variables and Assets. Shown when something’s linked.
  • Details — its IDs and dates.

For a synced product, the Variants tab carries a Synced from Shopify note.

The note spells it out: Variants are synced from Shopify. Edit them in your Shopify admin. A Shopify link on the Overview tab opens the product in your store admin so you can make those changes in one click.

Why COGS matters

COGS (cost of goods) is what each product costs you. Omnymous uses it to turn revenue into real profit across your reporting — margins, profit per order, and blended returns. Keep it accurate and your Store analytics tell the truth; leave it blank and the profit numbers will read high. For synced products, set costs in Shopify; for manual ones, fill in COGS on the product.

Delete a product

Deleting is composition-aware, just like the rest of the Library. If nothing is built from a product, you’ll get a simple confirm. If pieces depend on it, the panel lists what’s affected and the button becomes Delete Anyway.

Deleting a product with Delete Anyway can’t be undone, and anything built from it will show a Deleted Item placeholder in its make-up. Removing a product here removes the Omnymous copy only — it never changes your Shopify store.

Troubleshooting

A product is missing. If it lives in Shopify, open Import and pull it in — new store products aren’t imported automatically. If the Import panel is empty, your store connection needs attention (see Connect a store).

I can’t edit a product. It’s synced from Shopify and read-only here — there’s no local Edit, and the Variants tab carries a Synced from Shopify note. Make the change in your Shopify admin (use the Shopify link on the Overview tab) and it flows back to Omnymous.

My profit numbers look too high. A product is missing its COGS. Set the cost — in Shopify for synced products, or on the product itself for manual ones — and Store analytics will recalculate.

The buttons are greyed out. Importing, editing and deleting need the Member role or higher. Read-only access can still browse, preview and open products (see Team & roles).
