Knowledge: what the AI reads before it writes

Knowledge is the context Omnymous reads before it generates anything — your market research, your brand voice, and your real customer reviews. Fill it in once and every avatar, angle and piece of copy the AI writes draws on it.

Think of it as the difference between a copywriter who just started this morning and one who has read your research, learned your voice, and studied what your customers actually say. Everything here makes the AI the second kind.

Open Knowledge under LIBRARY in the sidebar. The bar of cards along the top switches between three categories — Research, Brand and Fundamentals — and the grid below shows what’s in the one you picked.

Marketing Research

Marketing Research holds the reports that tell the AI who the market is and how to talk to it. There are three kinds:

  • Market Research Report — the full picture: competitors, audience, and where the opportunity is.
  • Market Awareness Report — how aware your market already is of the problem and the solution (from unaware, all the way to ready-to-buy).
  • Market Sophistication Report — how many similar claims your market has already heard, so your message can go a step beyond them.

Each report is tied to one product — you’ll see Market Research Report — Daily Greens Superblend and its siblings in the Vital Root example above.

You get reports two ways. Press Generate to open Studio  and have Omnymous research and write one for you (this is the usual way — see the Studio guide). Or press Add and upload a report you already have as a PDF or Markdown file.

Reading a report

Click any card to open it in the preview panel on the right.

A Market Research Report open in the preview panel on its Preview tab, showing the Executive Summary, with Preview, Details and Composition tabs above it

The panel opens on the Preview tab, where the report reads top to bottom — here an Executive Summary and the sections beneath it. Inside it, switch between Preview (the formatted read) and Source (the raw text) with the toggle. The Details tab lists the file’s facts, and the Composition tab shows what the report is about — the Daily Greens Superblend product, marked Subject of.

To save a copy, use the download icon at the top of the panel and choose Download as Markdown or Download as PDF.

Brand Knowledge

Brand Knowledge is everything true about your brand — the part that keeps the AI’s writing sounding like you and not like everyone else. Open it from the Brand card at the top.

The Brand Knowledge category with two cards — a Brand Voice & Messaging document and an imported Customer Reviews file

It holds three kinds of item:

  • Brand Knowledge Base — your voice, positioning and key messaging. Write it in place in the editor, or upload a document.
  • Customer Reviews — your real reviews, imported from a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) and tied to the product they’re about.
  • Customer Surveys — survey responses, imported the same way.

Reviews and surveys are the raw material behind one of the most useful moves in Omnymous: turning what customers actually said into research your copy can quote.

Sitting on a pile of reviews? Turn reviews into research walks through importing them here and having the AI mine them for the exact phrases your customers use — proof your copy can quote back.

Fundamentals

Fundamentals is where you keep the marketing and copywriting principles you want the AI to lean on — the frameworks and playbooks you trust. The Vital Root workspace keeps classics like Breakthrough Advertising here.

These are reference documents you bring in yourself, so Fundamentals is upload-only: press Add and upload a PDF or Markdown file. There’s no Generate button here — see the Troubleshooting note below.

Adding your own

Press Add on any category to bring in a file. On Marketing Research you can pick which report type first, then the upload panel opens.

The Add Market Research Report panel on its Upload tab, with a Click to upload drop zone accepting PDF and Markdown, and Properties and Dependencies tabs alongside

The panel opens on the Upload tab. Drop your file on Click to upload (or click to browse); it tells you exactly what it accepts — for a report, PDF, Markdown · Max 1 file. The Properties tab holds the fields that give the AI context for the item, and the Dependencies tab is where Link the product this research is about ties it to the right product. Press Create to save, or Cancel to back out.

What your knowledge powers

Knowledge doesn’t do anything on its own — it feeds what comes next. Your research and reviews are what the AI reads when it builds your customer avatars and marketing angles, so the more you put here, the sharper those become. This is the top of the chain that ends in the ads you run.

Knowledge items follow the same shared Library rules as everything else — folders, structured search, and the edit lock that protects an item other things are built on. Those are covered once in How the Library works.

Troubleshooting

My upload was rejected. Each item type accepts specific formats. Reports take PDF or Markdown; reviews and surveys take a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel). The drop zone lists what it accepts and the file limit — match it and try again.

There’s no Generate button on Fundamentals. That’s expected. Fundamentals are reference documents you bring in yourself, so the category is upload-only — use Add. Generate appears on Marketing Research and Brand Knowledge, where the AI can create the item for you.

A report says it needs a product. Generated research is written about a product, so pick one first. Manually uploaded reports can link a product too, from the Add panel.
